Why is Reshaping Our World Important?
For almost 3 years now, I have been working to bring people together to reshape our world. It started with the idea that my granddaughter’s future is at risk when she is in the prime of her life 30 or 40 years from now. I wanted to do something that makes a difference to that outcome.
We have had three conferences and countless meetings trying to figure out how to bring focus to this idea.
What I have concluded from these three years of efforts is that most people agree with me – our world is heading for trouble. I have also learned that most people want to do something about it; most people just don’t know what else we can do besides trying to be good neighbors, parents and employees. We want to make a meaningful difference; we just don’t know what it is or we don’t have the support we need to make the difference.
That is why I have rebranded and refocused Women Reshaping the World to Reshaping Our World. It is every citizen’s responsibility to make a difference if we are going to turn this ship around. My contribution to that is to focus Reshaping Our World on three distinct efforts:
- Awareness of every citizen’s responsibility to contribute to building communities that are sustainably taking care of each other
- Knowing what my way of contributing to building communities that are sustainably taking care of each other – at work, in my community, socially
- Supporting people to contribute in their own unique way to building communities that are sustainably taking care of each other – at work, in my community, socially
In the coming weeks and months we will be rolling out a number of initiatives to support these three focused efforts. We will be looking for speaking opportunities and hosting webinars to develop awareness. We will be hosting workshops for people to answer the questions – ‘what is the difference that is meaningful to me that I can do? and ‘how do I make that difference?’ And we will be rolling out a series of support tools and inviting you to be a member of a like-minded community to find the support to make your difference.
It takes all of us together as individuals to reshape our world. If we try to delegate it all to government and big business, we are making a risky situation even more risky. We can do this. We each make a difference in our own unique way. The kind of difference that builds sustainable communities where we can all count on looking out for each other.
I look forward to the next leg of our adventure together.
